Our Work and Its Impact

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThrough our county partnership, we work with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, businesses, families and individuals to improve school readiness for children in Richland County. Our partnership board, made up of representatives from the fields of finance, law, education, medicine, social work, childcare and criminal justice, have chosen to target our resources where we feel we can have the most impact, serving children from before birth (prenatal care) through the age of 3.

We have been very successful in leveraging resources to maximize the state investment we receive via allocation from the legislature. In 2014-15, we leveraged our state allocation of roughly $770,000 to secure additional private and federal funding of $1.1 million for our programs.

From a return of investment (ROI) perspective, this represents a return of 141% for every state dollar invested in just ONE YEAR. We believe in using the most cost-effective methods to help children take strong and sure first steps into life. Our programs for families and child care providers are developed in accordance with and adhering to nationally-recognized, evidence-based models that have a proven positive impact for children and families.
